Last Updated: October 6, 2025
Welcome to Syllabuzz! Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use,
disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and mobile application (the "Services").
By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Who We Are and Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to Syllabuzz, Inc. ("Syllabuzz", "we", "our", or "us") and covers personal
information we collect from individuals who create student accounts or employer/company accounts, visit our
properties, or interact with our Services. This Policy does not apply to third-party websites or services
that we do not control.
2. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide
- Account & Profile: name, email address, password (hashed), and optional profile fields (location,
school, graduation year, areas of study, interests).
- Student Submissions for AI Course Recommendations: resumes/CVs and essays you upload, plus any
additional academic or professional details you choose to provide (e.g., coursework, GPA, skills,
certifications, projects). We may parse these to derive structured attributes (e.g., skills, experience
levels) used to generate recommendations.
- Employer/Company Content: company profiles, logos, links, and Job Descriptions you publish in the
employer dashboard. You control what you post and its visibility within the Services.
- Communications & Support: messages, feedback, survey responses, and content of communications when
you contact us or interact with in-product chat/support.
B. Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data and Device Information: IP address, device identifiers, browser type, operating system,
pages viewed, referring/exit pages, timestamps, session duration, and diagnostic data.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: we use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the
Services, remember preferences, perform analytics, and improve features. You can control cookies through
your browser settings; some features may not function without them.
C. Information from Third Parties
With your authorization, we may receive information from third-party services you connect (for example,
education platforms or recruitment tools). We may also obtain de-identified or aggregated insights from
analytics providers.
Sensitive Information
Please do not include sensitive personal information in your resume or essay (e.g., government ID numbers,
financial account data, precise health/medical details, or protected class information such as racial or
ethnic origin, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation). If you choose to include such information, you
direct us to process it for the purposes described in this Policy.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, secure, and maintain the Services.
- To generate AI-powered course recommendations and personalized content for students based on resumes,
essays, profiles, and usage signals.
- To publish and manage employer/company profiles and Job Descriptions, and to enable student discovery and applications.
- To communicate with you about your account, updates, and changes to the Services.
- To provide support, respond to inquiries, and improve customer experience.
- To perform analytics, product research, and Service improvement.
- To protect against fraud, abuse, security risks, and to enforce our terms.
- To comply with legal obligations and valid law‑enforcement requests.
4. AI Course Recommendations & Automated Decision‑Making
Syllabuzz uses automated processing to analyze student resumes/essays and other signals in order to suggest
courses. We may extract structured attributes (e.g., skills, academic focus) and use models to score or rank
potential course options. We apply testing and review to improve accuracy and fairness, and we incorporate
human oversight into system design and evaluation.
- Opt‑Out. You may request to opt out of personalized recommendations. If you opt out, you may still receive
non‑personalized or contextual suggestions.
- Model Training and Evaluation. We do not use your resume or essay to train general‑purpose AI models without your separate, explicit
consent. We may use de‑identified or aggregated data to evaluate and improve our systems.
- Third‑Party AI Providers. We may use third‑party AI vendors under contracts that restrict their use of your information; we do not
permit them to use your data to train their models without your explicit consent.
5. Sharing and Disclosure
- Service Providers. We share information with vendors that support our operations (e.g., hosting, cloud storage,
security, AI processing, analytics, email delivery). They may access personal information only to perform
services for us and must protect it.
- Employers/Companies (Student Direction). We share student information with employers only when students direct us to do so (for example, when a
student applies to a job, toggles visibility to be discoverable, or otherwise consents to share a resume or
profile).
- Public or Broadly Visible Content. Company profiles and Job Descriptions posted via the employer dashboard are intended to be visible to
student users and may be publicly accessible within the Services. Depending on settings, such content may be
indexed by search engines.
- Legal, Safety, and Rights. We may disclose information where required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to protect users,
prevent fraud or abuse, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Syllabuzz or others.
- Business Transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or asset sale, information may be transferred as
part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
- De‑Identified/Aggregated Data. We may share de‑identified or aggregated insights that do not reasonably identify an individual.
6. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for core functionality, preferences, analytics, and to improve the
Services. You may manage cookies via your browser settings. Some features may not function properly without
cookies.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal
obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. We also consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of
the information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use, and whether we can achieve the purposes
through other means. We may retain de‑identified or aggregated data without time limits.
8. Security
We employ administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information
(including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular security reviews). However, no method of
transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Choices and Rights
- Access, Correction, Deletion: You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal
information by contacting us as described below or via in‑product settings where available.
- Marketing Communications: You can opt out of marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in
those communications. We may still send transactional or service‑related messages.
- AI Personalization: You may request to opt out of personalized recommendations; you will receive
non‑personalized suggestions instead.

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from
children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.
11. International Data Transfers
We may process and store information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use lawful

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by
posting the updated Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the
Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
